Well, fiesta season is nearly upon us again. Can I ask all members to post any fiesta information that they find in this thread please.
It seems so difficult to get concise dates and information each year.
Lets build a list so that nobody has any excuses for missing the fiestas this year.

La Tomatina Tomato Fiesta in Bunyol 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
|

La Tomatina tomato fight in Buñol near Valencia happens every year on the last Wednesday in August though the partying starts earlier in the week. The highlight of the festival is the tomato fight which takes place between 11am and 1pm on that day.
The event has become one of the highlights on Spain's summer festivals calendar with thousands of people flocking to this little Valencian town for this chaotic event.
Such are the numbers going to La Tomatina that the event has become a victim of its own success. The sheer number of people means that it's extremely difficult to get anywhere near the central area where the tomato lorries arrive so you may well find yourself a few streets away from the main action. Never mind, there are plenty people in the same boat and the street partying goes on no matter where you are.
If you decide to attand this fiesta and are planning on staying in the area, you will need to reserve your hotel or other accomadation in advance.

LasHogueras de San Juan - Alicante Bonfires Fiesta 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago

20th - 24th June: Hogueras de San Juan
To celebrate the arrival of summer, the people of Alicante would traditionally flock to the countryside on 23 June for a festive dinner: they feasted on typical products, and at midnight they would light bonfires and dance around them, set off fireworks and go swimming in the sea. This custom endured over the years, and in 1928 the fiestas of the Bonfires of San Juan were formally constituted. For several days, Alicante celebrates this great homage to fire, a relation of the “Fallas” in Valencia, where the main characters are genuine works of impermanent art: the bonfires and the enormous cardboard and wooden figures which go up in flames on the night of San Juan.
If you like loud music and you love to dance, then this is your type of fiesta. Outside bars line the streets and the various latin varieties will have you moving in no time. everybody is dancing, in the town centre, on the beach, excellent night.

Wine Fiesta Jumilla Sat 16th August 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago

La Fiesta de la Vendimia in Jumilla is a celebration of the regions wine produce for the past year.
On the 16th August it is the GRAN CABALGATA DEL VINO. If you've never been, you really should make the effort.
At 6pm, the procession starts. Up to thrity floats circulate the town with tanks of wine towed behind. Each float has a group of followers that are armed with squirty bottles of wine which they refill from the floats. Once they have made you drink as much as you can they'll turn the bottles on you and make sure you are covered in the stuff. It really is a fun night with funfair and parties.
Where white clothing that you don't mind ruining and be sure to take a change of clothing with you for the journey home.
I attended once and they threw 30,000 litres of wine around, even the fountain on the roundabout had red wine spurting from it.

Pinoso Fiesta - 2008 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago

Friends of ours want to visit for the Pinoso fiesta so last week I went to the ayuntamiento and spoke to the conjelia for fiestas
She said the programe is not finalised until June but she had some rough notes which she shared with me!
As normal the fiesta will run officially from 1st to 8th August.
The crowning of the Reinas will be the Sat before this in the municipal gardens.
The 1st will see the Alcalde opening the fiestas from the balcony at the ayuntamiento and fireworks to follow
Main highlights are the giant paella on or about the monday, on the Thurs should be the Ofertas to the Patron saint. This is a procession through town with most people in traditional dress. there are representatives from the various clubs and associations and also the Pedanias. I joined in last year from Paredon.
The procession entails a walk through the streets carrying flowers and then we enter the church and offer the flowers at the alter.
The following day is the main cavaclade which is not to be missed. The floats are brilliant and all offer the crowds drinks, food and other bits.
We entered last year from the village and it was lots of fun
There will be the bulls running every day morning and night. There will be the fun fair in town and lots of stalls and side shows
The town is pretty off limits to cars during the fiesta with the main street pedestrianised and all cafes and bars have tables outside.
Baraccas are on every night all over town and often go on beyond the last offical night
If you have kids, there is a massive show for them in the middle of the week. This year its a well known kids programme doing a show in the gardens.
Dont expect many shops or businesses to be open. Lots take holidays and close completely, others are on limited opening.
In all, not to be missed!!
Cpme see us in pinos and enjoy!

One for the kids - San Cristobel - Yecla - July 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago

The fiesta of San Cristobel (Saint Christopher) Happens on the weekend closest to 10th July.
There are a lot of companies in and around Yecla and all of the lorries, vans and other vehicles meet up early in the morning down at the poligono on the Villena road and there is a free buffet type breakfast and drinks.
Then they form a convoy through the town handing toys and sweets to all of the children. It's great fun for the kids and the adults enjoy it also.

Hi Stirling,
There is very little on the net about it but I found the following.
The San Antonio is on the 13th of June. In honour of patrón San Antonio de Padua.
The biggest fiesta is in August around the 15th
